NIER FEUERHAND SCHILDRÖTE - TURTLE KEROSENE LANTERN D.R. PATENT

FEUERHAND - SCHILDRÖTE - TURTLE - D.R. PATENT

This is the 5th Turtle in my collection and the 3rd D. R. Patent Schildröte in the collection.

The lantern came from France with the original Turtle globe. It was fairly deteriorated especially near the burner insert and the airtubes have multiple pinholes in them. Too many to try to repair without ending up painting the whole lantern. I felt there was too much original tin left on the lantern and therefore did not want to paint it.

It is marked appropriately with the patent number on the top of the chimney cap and does have the 'snorkel' (air tube) down the inside of the tank which then leads to the outlet on the bottom of the fuel tank.
